Baby Eczema
Often appears as dry, red, itchy patches on the cheeks, scalp, or joints (elbows, knees) and can flare with dry air or irritants.
Regular, fragrance-free moisturizer applied right after bathing is a first-line comfort measure.
Diaper Rash
Usually caused by prolonged contact with wet or soiled diapers; appears as redness in the diaper area.
Frequent diaper changes, gentle cleaning, and a barrier cream can help most mild cases.
Telling Them Apart
Eczema tends to be dry and itchy in multiple body areas; diaper rash is localized to the diaper area and linked to moisture exposure.
A rash with pimple-like bumps or satellite spots beyond the diaper edges may suggest a yeast component.
When to See a Clinician
Rash that worsens despite home care, spreads, blisters, or is accompanied by fever should be evaluated.
